Chief Executive Officer

Javier Sanchez has been appointed chief executive officer of ArcelorMittal Warszawa on 9 February 2026. He is a member of the Management Committee of ArcelorMittal Europe Long Products.

Javier started his career in 1990 with Mercedes-Benz in Spain and he worked as an assembly line planification coordinator. From 1994 to 1999, he worked as a manager for the Hutchinson Group, more specifically for Industrias Tecnicas de la Espuma, prior to his arrival in the group in 2002. Javier spent ten years with SAPEM (ArcelorMittal Distribution, Iberia), first as industrial and plant manager, then as chief technology officer, until 2012. He is chief executive officer of ArcelorMittal Olaberria-Bergara since April 2012.

Javier is a graduate in industrial and mechanical engineering from the Escuela Tecnica Superior de Ingenieros Industriales, Bilbao, Spain. He also holds a master’s degree in fabrication advanced technologies, from the Universidad del Pais Vasco, Bilbao, Spain, and completed the enterprise management and organisation programme for engineers from REFA Bundesverband, Darmstadt, Germany.
